First Post-- Strawberry Picking

Today William and I attempted to go to the Setauket Strawberry Festival. However, thanks to Route 25A changing names every few miles east that we drove, we didn't actually find the festival until 2:30 in the afternoon. The festival appeared to be at someone's house and was filled with children running all over the place. Definitely not worth the $6 entry fee. So we drove on to Lewin's Farms, located further east in Wading River.

Lewin's has several u-pick fruits and veggies throughout the year, and strawberry picking runs through the end of June.

Yummy, sweet, fresh strawberry goodness.

 We picked about 4.5 pounds.

Now it's time to eat the strawberry crisp that just came out of the oven!

  1. That's what I want to do this summer! There's nothing like fresh strawberries from a local farm :)

  2. It really is a lot of fun! I absolutely recommend it. Just bring wipes because your hands will definitely get stained!

  3. I made strawberry and peach crisp, but I had to use frozen berries as it wasn't the season yet. I bet yours was delicious. Summer strawberries are the best!
